The best option I have found if mnemonic method is the best way to learn to you.

After a couple days of practice Im acing the quizzes and am able to write out and understand all 46 characters. The visual aids are remarkably helpful. Though they can be strange this at least helps me remember the shape and sound better. Cant say just how much I appreciate this app!

I knew nothing about Hiragana, this app took me 1 day to learn Basic Hiragana and Modified Hiragana. I can now read hiragana like a 5th grader can read English. Im looking forward to using the Katakana app as well

Ive been studying kana off and on for about a year now. With this app Ive literally learned all the hiragana in a day, and now Ive downloaded their katakana app and will be beginning that as soon as I finish this review. This app is absolutely worth the money and I will definitely be recommending it to anyone who wants to learn kana! I hope they come out with a kanji one soon! Lol.

This is my favorite app on my IPod. It taught me Hiragana in a day. I tried to learn Hiragana on a few websites, but it wasnt working. Then I found this. I now mastered Hiragana, and am ready to move on to Katakana. If you are a beginner, BUY THIS. Trust me, you wont be disappointed... Are you still reading this?! GO AND BUY IT!!!

Please fix the mute function while answering questions in quiz. Also where are the flashcards for the modified hiragana? Why is it only text? They might not have mnemonics but you should be able to have a flash deck especially if its 4.99. Wouldnt complain it had a lower price point.

Let me start out by saying this app has to be the most elegantly put together Japanese learning app on the market. The visual aids will stick with you after practicing through them for a few days. Now what this will teach you is the sound of each letter in the hiragana "alphabet", and a good way to remember them. This will NOT teach you full words. If you have tried the lite version and enjoyed it very much, buy this app. Hands down the best way to learn hiragana.

I downloaded this app, and learned all 46 characters in the hiragana alphabet within 24 hours! On to katakana! This app will not disappoint.

This app teaches hiragana very easily, but $4.99 is a bit much for a collection of clever pictures in my opinion, especially since youll need to learn Katakana too.

This app is perfect for taking that first step toward learning Japanese! It seems silly at first but after an hour or so you have them all memorized. I like the feature that hides all the answers, it is like having flash cards. Worth every penny.

What I thought may take a week or more to learn, turned out to be a couple of hours thanks to this app. At first I didnt care for the silly little pictures that helped you memorize it but it actually helped. Worth every penny.

Let me start off by saying I NEVER take the time to review apps... But this app in particular has helped me immensely, not only in mastering the hiragana, but in gaining the confidence to take on katakana and kanji as my next steps to becoming a Japanese speaker. If youre wondering if the app is worth the $5, trust me - as someone who hates paying for apps - it is! I havent even had the app for a full day and I feel confident in recognizing each hiragana character. I will continue to use the quiz mode to master my memorization, and Ill definitely be buying the katakana version of the app once I feel 100% confident in hiragana (which wont take long)! Ill be studying abroad in Japan next year and Im excited to have such an affordable, useful, fun way to help me learn the language. THANKS DR. MOKU!

This app will be able to teach you Hiragana swiftly, guarenteed. It took me three days to learn. The only issue that I found using this app is that it does NOT teach Modified Hiragana, which is just as important.

Doesnt contain modified hiragana.

Incredibly simple to use and learn. I bought this app and the Katakana app on Friday and already know all of the symbols and their modifications. Some of the mnemonics are super cheesy, but they still work. The only thing I would change would be to have the mnemonics match up with the actual pronunciation so I wouldnt have to keep it separate. In any case, I highly recommend it. Its a little pricy, but worth it.

If you are trying to learn Japanese and are short on time like I am this is great. When I get off time I do the quizzes and it helps me memorize the letters. Worth the money.

Ive been slowly learning japanese for over a year now. Ive been putting off the reading/writing side of things. I did take a college course in japanese and will be moving on to japanese two in the spring where all the reading will be in hiragana and katakana. I basically had 45 days to memorize it all. While I did have some experience before this app, it was limited. I sat down and put all my focus into this app, and after 2 hours I can accurately identify all 46 hiragana. Ive gotten several 100% on the quizzes back to back. This app works, and works fast. Brush stroke order feature displays hiragana different than other shown images. A little confusing on whats correct.

1.) This is an incredibly convenient way to study Hiragana. 2.) Number one is irrelevant as you will have mastered Hiragana and its modified forms by, and this is not an exaggeration, the fourth time you open it; It took me (as it will take you) less than two days. This is an excellent app. and probably the best $5 Ive spent through Apple. Save the $5 I just spent on the katakana version...

Ive been trying to learn for about a year and have gotten nowhere until I found this app on Pinterest! This helps me remember definitely worth the money!

Been using it for 20mins and Im already getting great scores on the quizzes.. I also cried when I could finally read my first word in hiragana, ありがとうございます :)
